"Photography is whatever you want it to be and does not exist within someone else’s definition"
Challenging first impressions and uncovering a different angle is the aim of my photography.
Drawn to visual representation from an early age, I always found drawing and clay modelling great means of self-expression, photography and videography - mediums I begun exploring in my late 20’s - an extension to this.
As a self-taught photographer, my journey begun in 2003, when armed with a small camcorder, a keen eye and bags of enthusiasm, I started exploring both film and stills.
Making memories and capturing small bites of the world around me turned to filming small live gigs and exploring some of the thoughts and ideas closer to my heart.
While switching between the two mediums I became increasingly drawn to photography, taking the plunge with a DSLR, the Rebel XSi.
Despite it being a little ‘aged’ shall we say, this camera has been my trusted companion and accomplice for quite a few years now.
This is not to say that I won’t upgrade to a newer model any time soon, but over the years I have come to appreciate just what one can accomplish with very little. After all, having fewer tools at your disposal can only push you to work harder, improvise and think outside the box…
With the canvas blank until I press the shutter, …I feel as though I have only just begun to scratch surface…
